Wednesday 5/10/06: Key West, FL to Tifton, GA: 651miles |

Heading
out of Key West early Wednesday with Paul Sundet we made our way
up the Keys. John Coons had a few too many free beers on the boat and
and couldn't get out with us. We headed up to Orlando and got a new
rear tire for Carrie and made our way to Deals Gap It was HOT in
Florida.
A Thunderstorm chased us off the road in Tifton, GA and we spent the
night after a Applebees dinner.

Thursday 5/11/06: Tifton, GA to Scottsburg, IN: 678miles
|
We
had been looking forward to riding through Deals Gap on the way
back. We had a great ride up to the gap via Hwy 28 from Franklin but
it soon started
raining once we got up. We spent some time at the Motorcycle resort
and bought a few goodies and it looked to start drying out. After we
left, no more
than 2miles down the dragon we ran into a 2-up Goldwing. With no areas
to pass we road 250 of the 312 turns in second gear :(
It's not all it's cracked
up to be when moving slow. It does has some very tight turns but I
prefer many of the roads we've traveled out west, particularly in
California.
We ate again at a Sonic outside Knoxville and left Paul Sundet behind.
He planned on exploring the area some more and riding the dragon a few
more
times.
